Why would the Microsoft Word program cut off the tops of a couple pages in a document converted from Nitro PDF?
It's much more likely that your conversion with Nitro PDF did the damage.  Not that there's anything specifically wrong with Nitro, but Word will only show the text that makes it through a conversion.  Is your original of poor quality?  Are you able to use another PDF converter to see if you get different results?  Best of luck with this.
What are the best PDF to Word converters?
Lots of software that converts PDF to Word, both online and installable applications. I’ve tested many PDF to Word converters, here is my recommendation.Desktop SoftwareFor Windows:Solid PDF ToolsPDF to Word Converter| Solid DocumentsFor Mac:Lighten PDF to Word ConverterPDF to Word Converter for Mac | Lighten SoftwareFree online PDF to Word Converter:CleverPDF: PDF to Word Converter Free - CleverPDF.compdftoword .com PDF to Word ConverterBut if your PDF file is a scanned document, which doesn’t have any text content, but only scanned images within the PDF file, OCR is required for extracting text characters from images.ABBYY FineReader is the best for OCR conversion.ABBYY FineReader 14PDF conversion is never easy, different developers use different algorithm for format reconstruction. All the developers will claim that their product is the best, but if you convert PDF to Word using 10 different software, you may get 10 different results. Aways try before purchasing. :)
What are the best alternatives to Adobe Acrobat Pro?
This really depends on what you are looking to do:For heavy text editing:If you are looking to directly edit text in a PDF, there are two options. You can try using a desktop software product like Nitro PDF or Foxit's PhantomPDF 7. They both offer free trials that allow you to evaluate their product. The other option is to find a good PDF to Word converter. Personally, I find that converting a PDF to Word is the easiest way to edit a PDF. Once you perform the conversion and make the changes in Word, you can save it as a PDF again by choosing "Save As" and then choosing the PDF format. They key here is to find a good PDF to Word converter. PDF Pro has an online PDF to Word converter (full disclosure - I'm the founder of PDF Pro) available here: Convert PDF to Word OnlineFor smaller touch-ups:If you are looking to make small changes to a PDF (e.g. rotate pages, merge/split, add images, add text, etc.), I'd look into some of the free online solutions provided by services such as PDF Escape or PDF Pro .For OCR:For OCR, I've never found many good online alternatives. Adobe's OCR solution is really good. You can check out Abbyy's FineReader desktop software product if you really don't want to use Adobe. They probably have the leading OCR solution in the market today after Adobe.
What occupations need the PDF-to-MS Word converter the most?
Scholars, (For Referencing and translations.)Students (For Copying Diagrams and stuff for solving assignments)OCR application testers. (OCR is a concept to convert non readable values to readable)Translators (Most of our courts made decisions in English often won’t be read by clients. So clients scan and convert in Urdu [National language of Pakistan] for understanding the documented decisions).
What is the correct way to open a PDF file in Word 2007?
Word 2007 does not have the built-in ability to open (non-protected) pdf files. This functionality was introduced, if I remember correctly with Word 2013.You can probably do it using some third-party plug-in (additional program), or if you take a tool like Nitro pdf Pro, it has the ability to convert a pdf file (as long as it’s not edit-restricted) directly into a Word file, which you can then open directly with Word 2007.There are also plenty of online services which can do this conversion for you, such as PDF to Word Converter. I just offer this service as an example - you may want to Google “convert pdf to Word online” - you’ll find plenty.Hope this helps.
How do I improve document quality when converting to PDF from Word?
There are three ways to convert a Word document to PDF:·       File, Save As, PDF·       File, Save As PDF.·       File, Export, Create PDF/XPS document Each of these offers different options (potential problems) when you convert the document to PDF. Change image formatTo resolve this issue, follow these steps:1.     Open the Word 2013 document with the images inserted.2.     Click File, Save, As, and PDF from the drop-down menu. The Options button is displayed at the bottom of the window.3.     Click Options.4.     On the Options dialog box, select ISO 19005-1 complaint (PDF/A) in the PDF options section.5.     Save the changes. Note: In some instances, unchecking the ISO19005-1 Compliant option seems to work.Does this resolve the issue? If not, try the following.Change image formatThe type of image you import into Word may affect the PDF output. In other words, if you try different formats, you may get better results. One interesting thing about EPS is that it looks very poor in Word but very clear in the PDF. 1.     Save or convert your image/s into PNG and then insert into Word.2.     Save or convert your image/s into EPS and then insert into Word.3.     Save or convert your image/s into JPEG and then insert into Word.4.     Save the Word document as .docx file and then 5.     Save As in PDF format. Compressing Image Files OptionBy default, MS Word compress images which can reduce the image quality when converting to PDF. You can turn off this setting as follows:1.     In Word, click File, Options.2.     Click Advanced, scroll down to Image Size and Quality.3.     Turn off Discard editing data. 4.     Select Do not compress images in file.5.     Select Set default target output to 220 ppi.  6.     Save the changes.Change PDF Optimize SettingsYou can also change the PDF optimization settings. Once thing that worked for me recently was to change from Minimum to Standard settings.  1.     Click File, Save As, then select PDF from the drop-down menu. Don’t click File, Save As Adobe PDF.2.     At the bottom of the page, click the Standard button (publishing online and printing) instead of Minimum size (publishing online).Turn off Hardware Graphics AccelerationThis is a bit of a long shot, but also try to turn off this setting:1.     In Word 2013 click on File, Options, Advanced.2.     Under Display group of options, uncheck Disable hardware graphics acceleration.
